NO. 08-045) <br />i <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 1S' Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2"~ Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For_ <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Amend the contract with Comade, Inc. for inmate personal care items, by <br />$15,000 for an annual amount not to exceed $40,000. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The City of Santa Ana maintains a 480-bed holding facility, which houses <br />inmates during the arraignment and hearing process. Personal care items <br />such as bar soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and shampoo are provided to <br />inmates for maintenance of personal hygiene. The Santa Ana holding <br />facility has been operating at full capacity over the past six months, <br />resulting in an increase in demand for personal care items. Staff <br />requests approval to increase the aggregate limit for Comade, Inc. to <br />provide uninterrupted purchases of personal care items. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />Funds are available in the Police Detention Services account (no. 11-343- <br />6391) . <br />~~ a ~.>- <br />Paul M.
