N0. 08-079) <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 151 Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2"d Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For_ <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Award a contract to GETAC, Inc. for mobile data computers in the amount of <br />$219,975. <br />DISCUSSION <br />In 2005, mobile data computers were installed in Fire vehicles to provide <br />wireless connectivity to computer aided dispatch, the records management <br />system, and the geographic information system. The computers in the <br />vehicles have exceeded their useful life and are costly to repair. <br />Updating the mobile data network ensures continued connectivity to <br />computer systems at the Fire Department. <br />The notice inviting bids was advertised on December 18, 2008, and bids <br />were solicited. A summary of the bid invitations and bids received is as <br />follows: <br />2 Invitations For Bid mailed <br />3 Bids received <br />Bids were received and opened on January 13, 2009, and evaluated (Exhibit <br />1). The bid from GETAC, Inc. is responsive to the specification and meets <br />the City's requirements. <br />22E-1 <br />
