Section 20393 taas amer_ded to pex~nit the refund of contributions upon re- <br />quest of those who have previously left State service but left their contri- <br />butions on depoi¢it. Previously the law provided that if a member, having <br />more than X500 on deposit, left his contributions here no refund would be <br />possible. <br />2. If a policeman or a fireman is eligible for a leave of absence with compen- <br />sation, under Section 1x.850 of the Labor Code, his retirement shall not be- <br />come effective prior to the expiration of the leave of absence, with compen- <br />sation, unless the member applies for or consents to his retirement at an <br />earlier date, <br />3. The permission to retain members beyond the compulsory retirement age will <br />go out of the law effective September 9, 1953. Those who have been retained <br />in the past must not serve nor be shown on the payrolls after September 8, <br />1953. Thereafter the compulsory retirement ages as stated in the Law will <br />be in effect. <br />1~. Retired persons are prohibited from receiving compensation for service <br />rendered to the estate or to a contracting agency after the date of retire- <br />ment. An amendment was made permitting service as a juror, or as an officer <br />of an election board, <br />5. If a retired member is e).ected or appointed to a public office which is <br />requisite to membership in the System, his allowance shall be cancelled <br />and he shall. have the right to continue membership and make contributions; <br />or he shall have the right to refund of contributions or to leave the con- <br />tributions on deposit until such time as his service as an elected officer <br />is discontinued. <br />Ret, Form 829-1 8/53 400 <br />
