Orange Counn^ Youth Commission <br />Santa _Ana, California <br />also refer to WIA youth -serving agencies for necessary counseling. if deemed <br />appropriate. <br />The boxing club program is a very popular program among our Santa Ana youth. thus <br />they are willing to do what is needed to, not just attend the club, but also, become a <br />member of the team. Our boxing team has won local and national tournaments and these <br />youth want to join this winning team. Currently, we have five boxers who competed in <br />the World Amateur Boxing Competition last Spring. Consequenth-, they are willing to <br />put in the required discipline in. not just boxing practice, but also, academic study to meet <br />the present 2.0 GPA requirements to belong to the boxing team. <br />FACILITIES <br />Program activities will take place at the Santa Ana Boxing Club. <br />Address of Boxing Club: <br />901 Fourth Street <br />Santa Ana. CA 92701 <br />Hours of aeration: <br />Monday - Friday, 3 p.m. — 7:30 p.m. <br />Transportation to the Facility: <br />Presently, all but one of the boxing club members, live in Santa Ana. Most of these live <br />within walking distance. Those that live further than walking distance have easy access <br />to bus transportation. It is our practice to provide bus passes to those in the WIA <br />program. The cost of bus passes is an expense that is included in our fund request. <br />Youth Friendly Facility: <br />The uniqueness of boxing draws them to the club, The boxing gym facility is youth <br />friendly and inviting; our tutoring, boxing exercise program, skill attainment and <br />competition gives students goals to reach. And field trips and activities retain clients' <br />interest, especially contact with caring mentors. Indeed, our boxing club is unique in <br />providing a creative, youth -friendly and youth -welcoming environment that is exciting <br />and interesting. The facility helps to create a warm, family atmosphere. <br />Internet Access: <br />Staff computer has Internet access. As well, the four student computers also have Internet <br />access. <br />ADA Requirements: <br />The Santa Ana Boxing Club has received funding through a private grant to update the <br />facility restroom to make it wheelchair -accessible and fully ADA compliant. This <br />restroom is now completed and ready to be used by all. <br />15 <br />
