Iss:02/18l09 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2009- <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF <br />THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AUTHORIZING <br />THE CITY MANAGER AND CHIEF OF POLICE <br />TO EXECUTE A GRANT AWARD AGREEMENT WITH THE <br />CALIFORNIA OFFICE OF EMERGENCY SERVICES FOR <br />THE PROJECT SAFE NEIGHBORHOODS GRANT <br />PROGRAM <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby, finds, determines and <br />declares as follows: <br />A. The California Office of Emergency Services has awarded to the Santa <br />Ana Police Department, grant funds in the amount of $30,000.00, for the <br />Project Safe Neighborhoods Grant Program. <br />B. This funding will be used to reduce gang violence by paying for gang <br />suppression officers to work overtime to conduct enforcement operations <br />against Santa Nita gang members in the Safety Zone. These enforcement <br />operations include monitoring and apprehension of gang members who <br />violate the injunction, as well as court time required to provide expert <br />witness testimony following arrests for violation of the injunction. <br />Section 2. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby authorizes and directs <br />the City Manager and the Chief of Police or their designees to execute the grant award <br />agreement with the Office of Emergency Services. <br />Section 3. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby appoints the Chief of <br />Police, or his designee, as agent for the City of Santa Ana to conduct all negotiations, <br />execute and submit all documents, including but not limited to applications, agreements, <br />amendments and payment requests which may be necessary for the completion of the <br />aforementioned grant. <br />20A-3 <br />
