REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />MARCH 2, 2009 <br />TITLE: <br />APPROPRIATION ADJUSTMENT <br />RECOGNIZING RECREATION <br />SPECIAL FEES AND DONATIONS <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />As Recommended <br />As Amended <br />Ordinance on 1 S` Reading <br />Ordinance on 2"d Reading <br />Implementing Resolution <br />Set Public Hearing For_ <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Approve an appropriation adjustment recognizing $328,460 in Recreation <br />Special Fees and Donations revenue accounts (nos. 22-O1-various) and <br />appropriate same to the Recreation Special Fees and Donations expenditure <br />accounts (nos. 22-231-various). <br />DISCUSSION <br />From July 2006 through June 2008 the Parks, Recreation and Community <br />Services Agency received $328,460 in miscellaneous special fees and <br />donations to fund events, programs and projects that benefit the residents <br />of Santa Ana. Carnival Promoters paid fees to re-establish park turf and <br />fund youth programs and improvements at host parks. The Friends of the <br />Santa Ana Zoo donated funds to pay for veterinary and other Zoo expenses. <br />Target donated funds towards the Summer Concert Series. <br />In addition, various donations were received from corporate and private <br />entities to fund specific programs and activities including the Park <br />Naturalist program, the Zoo's Endangered Animals program, and the Read and <br />Create program.
