FOLLOWED BY THE HOUSING AUTHORITY MEETING <br /> <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS ON ISSUES OF PUBLIC INTEREST <br /> <br />Claudio Gallegos, Thomas Gordon, George Garcia, Alex Vega, Lucy Solorzano, and <br />Roy Alvarado spoke on issues related to the City <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER AND COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />90A CITY MANAGER'S COMMENTS - None <br /> <br />90.B. CITY COUNCILMEMBER COMMENTS <br /> <br />Council member Tinaiero <br />· Noted that he was very proud of the City Council and its willingness to <br />make hard decisions relative to the City's budget <br /> <br />Councilmember Benavides <br />. Thanked all the speakers who addressed the Council <br />. Expressed confidence that the Council and staff will continue to work <br />towards a brighter future for the City <br />. Noted that he will be holding his monthly open house on the upcoming <br />Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Southwest Senior Center <br />for citizens to come and share their views and concerns with him <br /> <br />Councilmember Sarmiento <br />. Thanked everyone for attending tonight's meeting <br />. Noted that many councilmembers went to Washington for the <br />inauguration ceremonies on January 20, 2009; he further noted that all <br />councilmembers paid their own transportation and attendance costs; <br />he stated that it was important for members to attend because it <br />afforded the opportunity to meet with our federal representatives and <br />explain the City's needs <br /> <br />Council member Martinez <br />. Noted that February is Black History Month <br />. Congratulated Bruce Dunams on the occasion of his retirement from <br />the City <br />.
