Zuniga, Diana
From: donna nguyen <
Sent: Wednesday, April 30, 2025 12:11 PM
To: eComment
Subject: Agenda #17 City Council May 6
Attachments: IMG_6347jpeg; 20250409_135356.mp4
Attention: This email originated from outside of City of Santa Ana.Use caution when opening attachments or links.
Dear City Leaders:
My name is Donna Nguyen and I reside in Ward 4. I am submitting this
email public comment regarding May 6, 2025 Agenda 417 "Recommended
Action: Authorize the City Manager to execute agreements with
Transportation Studies, Inc. and National Data & Surveying Services for
traffic counting services, in an aggregate amount not to exceed $500,000, for
a term beginning May 6, 2025 and ending on May 5, 2028, with the option
for two, one-year extensions"
Could the city council please prioritize a traffic survey on West Segerstrom
Avenue between the cross streets of Greenville and Raitt? With the recent
devastating accident that claimed 5 lives and the poor reputation for
excessive speeding, the community is making a few requests which include
traffic surveys during day and night, increased traffic enforcement, speed
limit rezoning for the "S curves," tree maintenance. It is my understanding
that the Greenville and Segerstrom intersection will have left turn signals in
the near future. Can Greenville and the West Alton intersection receive
priority attention as that there are no left turn signals and Thorpe
Fundamental Elementary is at that corner? We can all agree as a consensus
that children's public safety is Santa Ana's number one priority.
Attached is a photo and video of where the fatalities occurred. I am
requesting the city remove the tree blocking the S-curve sign as the
overgrowth makes it challenging to see at night since it is blocking the
overhead streetlight from illuminating the reflective sign at different angles.
Thank you for your time and immediate attention to this matter.
1
