REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />APRIL 6, 2009 <br />TITLE <br />SEWER SYSTEM MANAGEMENT PLAN <br />i <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />Adopt the Sewer System Management Plan. <br />DISCUSSION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 15` Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2"d Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For_ <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />The State Water Resources Control Board adopted Order No. 2006-0003 on <br />May 2, 2006 which requires the City to prepare and implement a Sewer <br />System Management Plan (SSMP). The main goal of the SSMP is to prevent <br />sanitary sewer overflows. The SSMP contains detailed procedures that <br />address all facets of operation and maintenance of the City's sewer <br />collection system. <br />On August 6, 2007 Council adopted a SSMP Development Plan and Schedule. <br />This development plan and schedule set target dates and milestones to <br />complete all of the required SSMP elements. Since that time, staff has <br />prepared the required plan elements including a revised Overflow and <br />Emergency Response Plan and updates to the Operation and Maintenance <br />Program. The other plan elements have also been revised as needed. The <br />final Sewer System Management Plan is now complete and ready for adoption <br />by Council. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT <br />There is no environmental impact associated with this action. <br />19D-1 <br />
