NO. 08-076) <br />C TY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 15S Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2rd Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Award a contract to Fisher Safety for safety gloves for a one-year period <br />with provision for three one-year renewals in an annual amount not to <br />exceed $35,000. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Central Stores section of the Finance and Management Services Agency <br />provides safety gloves to various departments throughout the City for use <br />in the performance of their duties. Included are neoprene gloves for use <br />with chemicals, puncture-resistant gloves, canvas and leather work gloves, <br />and disposable rubber gloves. The contract for safety gloves is designed to <br />provide quality products at significant savings based on quantity pricing. <br />The notice inviting bids was advertised on December 30, 2008 and bids were <br />solicited. A summary of the bid invitations and bids received is as <br />follows: <br />8 Invitations For Bid mailed <br />1 Invitation For Bid mailed to a Santa Ana vendor <br />9 Bids received <br />1 Bid received from a Santa Ana vendor <br />Bids were received and opened on January 12, 2009 and evaluated (Exhibit <br />1) The bid received from Fisher Safety is responsive to the specification <br />and meets the City's requirements. <br />22B-1 <br />
