Approve the Consolidated Plan Annual Update and authorize its <br />submittal to the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development <br />(HUD) . <br />2. Authorize the City Manager to make any necessary modifications to <br />the 2009-2010 action plan to reflect the actual grant amounts once <br />released by HUD. <br />COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AND HOUSING COMMISSION ACTION <br />At its Regular Meeting of April 21, 2009, by a vote of 5:0, the Community <br />Redevelopment and Housing Commission recommended that the City Council <br />approve the Consolidated Plan Annual Update and authorize the submittal <br />to the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. <br />DISCUSSION <br />Each year the City of Santa Ana receives funding from various formula <br />grant allocation programs administered by the U.S. Department of Housing <br />and Urban Development (HUD). These funds provide for affordable and <br />supportive housing, community development programs, public services and <br />economic opportunities. The programs include the Community Development <br />Block Grant (CDGB), the HOME Investment Partnership Grant (HOME), the <br />Emergency Shelter Grant (ESG), and the Housing Opportunities for Persons <br />with AIDS (HOPWA) Grant. Since Santa Ana is the most populous city in <br />the County, Housing Opportunities for Persons With AIDS (HOPWA) funds are <br />provided to the City for use throughout the County to address housing and <br />supportive services for persons with HIV/AIDS. <br />29A-1 <br />
