REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />MAY 4, 2009 <br />TITLE: <br />APPROPRIATION ADJUSTMENT FOR <br />WORKFORCE INVESTMENT ACT <br />ADDITIONAL FUNDS - CAPACITY <br />BUILDING <br />CI MANAGE <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 1ST Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2"d Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Approve an Appropriation Adjustment recognizing additional revenues of <br />$41,000 from the State of California to provide capacity building for the <br />Integrated Service Delivery Learning Labs. <br />DISCUSSION <br />In January 2008, the City of Santa Ana W/0/R/K Center was selected to be <br />one of the twelve One Stops to participate in the Integrated Service <br />Delivery Learning Lab pilot program. Since July 1, 2008, the W/0/R/K <br />Center has been operating as an integrated One Stop Center under the <br />pilot program. <br />The State of California Employment Development Division has allocated <br />capacity building funds to the twelve Learning Labs in California. The <br />allocation awarded to the City of Santa Ana W/0/R/K Center learning lab <br />is $41,000. These funds are to be used to provide staff development <br />training to enhance the competencies of the staff who administer <br />workforce preparation programs under the Integrated Service Delivery <br />Learning Lab pilot program. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />Upon approval of the appropriation adjustment, funds will be available in <br />the WIA One Stop Capacity Building account (account no. 123-217-various). <br />20D-1 <br />
