REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />JUNE 1, 2009 <br />TITLE: <br />AGREEMENT FOR PARAMEDIC BILLING <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />❑ As Recommended <br />❑ As Amended <br />❑ Ordinance on 1" Reading <br />❑ Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />❑ Implementing Resolution <br />❑ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Authorize the City Manager and Clerk of the Council to execute the <br />attached agreement with Wittman Enterprises, LLC, to provide <br />Paramedic /EMS billing and collection services for the City of Santa Ana <br />Fire Department for an initial three -year term, with the option to amend <br />for one two -year term, at a rate of 6.3 percent of net collection, <br />subject to non - substantive changes approved by the City Manager and City <br />Attorney. <br />DISCUSSION <br />In January 2009, the Fire Department issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) <br />for paramedic /EMS ambulance billing and collection services. Fourteen <br />companies submitted proposals, which were reviewed and evaluated by Fire <br />Department staff. The top four proposals were then reviewed by fire <br />managers, who concurred with the selection of Wittman Enterprises. <br />Wittman Enterprises has provided excellent paramedic /EMS ambulance <br />billing and collection services, to the department since 1994. The Fire <br />Department recommends approving an initial three -year agreement, with <br />one two -year amendment, with Wittman Enterprises, base on their <br />submitted Request for Proposal. <br />25C -1 <br />
