NO. 09-025) <br />~. <br />i~~t` <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 1St Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2~d Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For_ <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Award a contract to Cook Coatings, Inc., for the re-roofing of Fire <br />Stations 4, 5, and 7 and the Santa Anita Center in an amount not to exceed <br />$96,500. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The roofs of Fire Stations 4, 5, and 7 and the Santa Anita Center have been <br />evaluated and are recommended for replacement. The existing roofs are <br />approximately 25 years old are no longer cost effective to repair and <br />maintain. The proposed foam roofing system is comprised of a seamless layer <br />of rigid polyurethane foam covered with two coats of protective silicone <br />rubber. The completed system provides a durable and effective insulation <br />with superior protection against all weather conditions. The replacement <br />roofs will include a 25-year warranty and, if properly maintained, should <br />withstand 50 years. <br />The notice inviting bids was advertised on April 28, 2009 and bids were <br />solicited. A summary of the bid invitations and bids received is as <br />follows: <br />8 Invitations For Bid mailed <br />6 Bids received <br />Bids were received, opened on May 14, 2009, and evaluated (Exhibit 1) The <br />bid received from Cook Coatings, Inc., is responsive to the specifications <br />and meets the City's requirements. To allow for unanticipated <br />requirements, an additional ten percent contingency has been included in <br />the award amount. <br />22H-1 <br />
