APR Initiative #6: Maximizing IT <br />• Need to establish a dedicated computer training room <br />• DOC to be equipped with laptops to be maintained by IT to ensure current updates <br />• DOC is temporary location for training <br />0 <br />• Continual training at Briefings, etc. without the utilization of overtime <br />• Darmour, Faria, and Bonilla are setting up additional training <br />• Completed: VISION, Restraining Orders, Parole Leads, Cal Photo, OCWebDV <br />• Completed: 3 hour RMS training with Burglary detail <br />• Re- evaluate every desktop to see if needed; and evaluate whether a laptop would make for <br />more productivity and mobility <br />o Ongoing and asking for help from PD staff to check their area <br />• GIS analyst <br />o Completed: written and orals with an established list given to PD personnel to process <br />• New technology <br />o Captain Vargas and Investigator Hayes testing Dragon transcription to maximize use for <br />completion of reports <br />• Look to institute more training like the 800 Mhz Beyond the Basics for other technology <br />o Completed: training manual in preparation for Maddy and OCSD to train dispatchers <br />and officers on the better use their radios <br />• Look for volunteers to train in their specialty of technology <br />o Will be checking with the APR group to see who can help in this <br />• Enhanced training after new blackberries have been distributed department wide <br />o Last 50 will be distributed within two weeks <br />• Enhanced training and resources after Windows 2007 has been installed department wide <br />o City and EDS offer tutorials where it can be done while at your office /desktop <br />• Office communicator currently being tested by IT personnel <br />o Instant messenger, video conferencing, sharing desktops, etc. will save time in <br />communicating, meetings, and repair of equipment <br />
