As the current Counselor at the SAWC, I am <br />expressing my strong desire to continue to serve the customers and agency In this capacity. I <br />would be honored by your considerate review of my experience, skills, and training that <br />substantiates and exemplifies my qualifications to provide Career Assessment/Counseling and <br />Mental Health Services to the customers at the SAWC who are in the process of becoming <br />reemployed, retrained, and/or enhancing their career. <br /> <br />I have enjoyed the privilege of serving In the capacity of Career Counselor, also referred to as <br />the Wellness Coordinator or Counselor, at the W /O/R/K Center since October 1997. The <br />customer base has been those seeking employment and/or training at the SAWC, who were <br />enrolled in Workforce Investment Act (WIA) programs (and formerly JTPA) and individuals <br />enrolled In other related programs, such as the Department of Social Services' work experience <br />and EDD's TRA and TAA programs. Customers include multiethnic, multicultural, and <br />economically disadvantaged populations. This role began with the primary responsibility of <br />helping people in need of and who desired Personal Counseling as they psychologically <br />struggled with their unemployment status. Over the years, my responsibility expanded to include <br />Career Counseling, Vocational Assessment, and Pre-employment Skills Testing. In implementing <br />these functions, I have regularly consulted with appropriate Center staff when necessary or <br />helpful, with customer consent, to coordinate services and optimize success. <br /> <br />Additional qualifying experience inciudes six-years of Vocational Counseling and Assessment for <br />two community college districts; community college Matriculation Counseling for three years; 17 <br />years as a Mental Health Services Provider in various settings; and one year of case <br />management. <br /> <br />Educationally, I have eamed a bachelor's degree in psychology, a master's degree in <br />counseling IMFCC), completed a four-year post-graduate training program in a specialized <br />treatment approach called Bioenergetic Analysis, and have attended many continuing <br />education workshops and programs on various topics related to psychology and treatment of <br />various problems and issues people face In their lives.
