1 <br />REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />SEPTEMBER 8, 2009 <br />TITLE <br />AGREEMENT WITH CORRECTIONAL <br />MANAGED CARE MEDICAL <br />CORPORATION FOR INMATE MEDICAL <br />SERVICES <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 151 Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2rd Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For_ <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Authorize the City Manager and the Clerk of the Council to execute the <br />attached amendment to the agreement with Correctional Managed Care Medical <br />Corporation to provide inmate medical services in an annual amount not to <br />exceed $1,255,985, subject to non-substantive changes approved by the City <br />Manager and City Attorney. <br />DISCUSSION <br />On June 20, 2007, the City issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for inmate <br />medical services at the Santa Ana Jail. These medical services are <br />required and governed by State law, under the California Department of <br />Corrections Title 15 requirements. <br />The RFP specified on-site medical services 24 hours a day, in addition to a <br />doctor on call, for the Santa Ana inmates. Medical staff is required to <br />conduct daily sick calls, dispense medication, as well as to assist in the <br />intake of incoming inmates to assess for entrance acceptability. <br />Additional services such as dental care, radiology, ophthalmology, OB/Gyn, <br />psychiatric crisis intervention and emergency medical billing services are <br />also required. <br />Correctional Managed Care Medical Corporation (CMCMC) continues to be <br />responsive to the specifications and City's requirements. On August 20, <br />2007, Council approved entering into a three-year agreement with two one- <br />year renewal options with CMCMC. This would be the third year of the new <br />contract. <br />25F-1 <br />
