HSIP is a federally funded program that provides <br />construction funds for projects to improve traffic and pedestrian safety, <br />such as traffic signals and signage upgrades. <br />Staff is requesting authorization to submit three projects for HSIP <br />funding for FY 2009/2010 (Exhibit 1). Given the need far these <br />improvements, staff recommends the City Council adopt a resolution <br />supporting federal funding of these projects and authorizing the <br />Executive Director of the Public Works Agency to submit the designated <br />projects for funding consideration under the Highway Safety Improvement <br />Program. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT <br />Environmental reviews will be conducted for those <br />funding and will be presented to the City Council <br />contract(s) is awarded.
