Approve an appropriation adjustment recognizing $84,410.00 in American <br />Recovery & Reinvestment Act youth funds awarded to the City of Santa <br />Ana W /O /R /K Center by County of Orange for the California Green Job <br />Corps Project. <br />2. Adopt a resolution authorizing the City Manager or designee to execute <br />all necessary documents for Workforce Investment Act Green Job Corps <br />Grant Project with the County of Orange /Orange County Workforce <br />Investment Board. <br />DISCUSSION <br />On August 25, 2009, the Orange County Board of Supervisors on behalf of <br />the Orange County Workforce Investment Board awarded the City of Santa <br />Ana W /O /R /K Center with an $84,410 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act <br />(ARRA) Green Job Corps grant. <br />The Orange County Green Job Corps project will provide a unique <br />opportunity to launch a skills training and community service program <br />that supports California's emerging green economy for businesses, homes, <br />and communities. Under the direction of the Orange County Workforce <br />Investment Board, the Green Job Corps project will bring together <br />partners which will include the three Workforce Investment Boards, <br />community colleges, community -based agencies, and businesses. The City <br />of Santa Ana /Workforce Investment Act will leverage these grant funds <br />with an additional $46,425 of Workforce Investment Act funds. <br />The Santa Ana Green Job Corps project will serve 27 at -risk and <br />disconnected youth, between the ages of 16 -24 over a twenty -month period. <br />The Project will train youth for a variety of green careers in eco- <br />55A -1 <br />
