NO. 09-049) <br />,~ <br /><t :% <br />CITY MANAGER <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 1 s` Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2rd Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For_ <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />Award a contract to Allstar Fire Equipment, Inc <br />contained breathing apparatus in the amount of <br />$15,000 for an annual blanket contract, for a <br />exceed $35,000. <br />. for the purchase of self- <br />$20,000; and an additional <br />total annual amount not to <br />DISCUSSION <br />Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) provides fire suppression <br />personnel with proper protection and the ability to operate effectively <br />during emergency situations. Each SCBA unit provides approximately 30 <br />minutes of oxygen to fire personnel during an emergency occurrence. The <br />recommended action allows the Fire Department to purchase an additional 26 <br />SCBA units, increasing their current inventory of 300 units to 326. The <br />added units will supply the Fire Department adequately, having the <br />necessary inventory on hand in the event of an emergency. <br />Allstar Fire Equipment, Inc. provides miscellaneous supplies for the Fire <br />Department. The purchase of self-contained breathing apparatus, when <br />combined with anticipated purchases during the current fiscal year, exceed <br />the $25,000 aggregate limit. In order to facilitate continued purchase of <br />supplies, staff recommends an increase to the aggregate limit. <br />22D-1 <br />
