Roh10/14/09 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2009- <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA ACCEPTING ADDITIONAL GRANT AWARD <br />FUNDS AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR <br />THE CHIEF OF POLICE TO APPROVE AN <br />APPROPRIATION ADJUSTMENT FOR THE PUBLIC <br />SAFETY INTEROPERABLE COMMUNICATIONS GRANT <br />PROGRAM <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby, finds, determines and <br />declares as follows: <br />A. The Department of Commerce's National Telecommunications and <br />Information Administration (NTIA), in consultation with the Department of <br />Homeland Security (DHS) has established the Public Safety Interoperable <br />Communications Grant Program (PSIC). The California Office of <br />Homeland Security is responsible for implementing the PSIC. <br />B. PSIC provides funds to local emergency first responders to assist public <br />safety agencies in the acquisition, deployment of or training for the use of <br />interoperable communications systems that utilize reallocated public <br />safety spectrum for radio communications. <br />C. The City of Santa Ana acts as lead agency for the Anaheim/Orange <br />operating area in implementing the PSIC Grant Program. <br />D. The City of Santa Ana previously adopted a resolution authorizing the City <br />Manager and the Chief of Police to execute a grant award agreement with <br />the State of California, Office of Homeland Security (OHS) for the FY 2007 <br />Public Safety Interoperable Communications (PSIC) funding program in <br />the amount of $12, 748,170. <br />E. The City of Santa Ana has been awarded additional funding in the amount <br />of $196,774 from the California Emergency Management Association <br />(previously the Governor's Office of Homeland Security) for the PSIC <br />Grant Program. <br />55B-3 <br />
