REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />NOVEMBER 2, 2009 <br />TITLE: <br />ADOPT A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE <br />MEMBERSHIP PAYMENT TO ILJAOC <br />. ~.-,~ <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 15` Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2rd Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For_ <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Adopt a resolution to approve the expenditure of funds for services <br />provided as part of the City of Santa Ana`s membership in the Integrated <br />Law and Justice Agency for Orange County for FY 2009-10 in the amount of <br />$74,261: <br />DISCUSSION <br />In 2002, City Council authorized membership of the City of Santa Ana in the <br />Integrated Law and Justice Agency for Orange County (ILJAOC) and the <br />execution of a Joint Powers Agreement (JPA). The purpose of ILJAOC is to <br />improve information sharing and efficiency. <br />The Integrated Law & Justice Agency for Orange County was formed in 2006 to <br />facilitate the integration and sharing of criminal justice <br />information/data. The members of the ILJAOC, a joint powers agency, <br />include all Orange County cities; the Superior Court; the University of <br />California at Irvine (UCI) Police Department; and the County. Participating <br />agencies have agreed to fund the costs of ILJAOC operations, on a shared <br />basis, through annual budget appropriations. The annual budget includes <br />member agencies' per capita shares of system operations, administrative <br />overhead, and contributions to a capital fund for the eventual replacement <br />of equipment. The proportionate share of costs allocated to the City of <br />Santa Ana, Police Department is $74,261. <br />55C-1 <br />
