• community-based organizations workshops, <br />• the Greater Santa Ana Business Alliance, <br />• City Council visioning sessions, <br />• Planning Commission study sessions, <br />• Redevelopment & Housing Commission study sessions, and <br />• Historic Resource Commission study sessions. <br />Housing Vision: <br />All Santa Ana residents have an equal right and opportunity to find <br />suitable housing in quality residential neighborhoods that allow <br />themselves, their families, and neighbors to live the fullest lives. We <br />support an inclusive community that is multigenerational, culturally <br />diverse, sustainable, and economically broad. The City will facilitate the <br />production, rehabilitation, and improvement of rental and homeownership <br />opportunities at different affordability levels. <br />Housing Element Goals: <br />• Goal No. 1: Livable Neighborhoods -Promote livable neighborhoods <br />through quality housing conditions, quality parks and community <br />services, and well-maintained infrastructure that inspire neighborhood <br />pride. <br />o Housing Programs to: improve neighborhoods include housing <br />rehabilitation, neighborhood initiatives, and Code Enforcement <br />and Historic Preservation Programs. <br />• Goal No. 2: Housing Supply and Diversity -provide diversity of quality <br />housing, affordability levels, and living experiences that accommodate <br />residents and workforce of all household types, income levels, and age <br />groups. <br />o Housing Programs to increase: supply and diversity include <br />strategic growth, regulatory tools, building design, and housing <br />incentives. <br />• Goal No. 3: Housing Assistance -Increase opportunities for low and <br />moderate income individuals and families to find suitable housing, <br />remain in Santa Ana, and afford a greater choice of rental or <br />homeownership opportunities. <br />o Housing Programs to: assist Renters and Homeowners include <br />Rental Assistance, Homeownership Assistance, Foreclosure <br />Assistance, multi-family Acquisition/Rehabilitation, and <br />preservation of affordable housing. <br />• Goal No. 4: Special Needs -Provide adequate housing opportunities <br />and supportive services suitable for seniors, people with disabilities, <br />families with children, and people needing emergency, transitional, or <br />supportive housing. <br />o Housing Programs for: special needs include people with <br />disabilities, seniors, large families, people who are homeless, <br />and fair housing. <br />Current Status of the Housing Element: <br />• public review completed, <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 255 OCTOBER 19, 2009 <br />10A-7 <br />
