Iss10/19/09 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2009 -XXX <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA ADOPTING THE BIKEWAYS <br />STRATEGIC PLAN AND AUTHORIZING THE <br />SUBMISSION OF A PROJECT FOR FUNDING <br />UNDER THE BICYCLE TRANSPORTATION ACCOUNT <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby finds, determines <br />and declares as follows: <br />A. In order to be eligible for Bicycle Transportation Account funding, the City of Santa <br />Ana is required to adopt a bicycle transportation plan that meets the requirements <br />of the California Transportation Act (California Streets and Highways Code Section <br />891.2). <br />B. The Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) adopted the OCTA Commuter <br />Bikeways Strategic Plan (CBSP) on May 22, 2009. <br />C. The CBSP meets the requirements of the California Bicycle Transportation Act and, <br />with minor modifications, is consistent with the Santa Ana Bikeway Master Plan. <br />D. Projects funded through the Bicycle Transportation Account, require that the <br />applicant furnish funding for ten percent (10 %) of the total cost of constructing the <br />proposed bikeways and related facilities. <br />Section 2. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby adopts the Orange County <br />Transportation Authority Commuter Bikeway Strategic Plan as modified by the City of <br />Santa Ana addendum, attached hereto as Exhibit "A ", as the City of Santa Ana Bikeways <br />Strategic Plan. <br />Section 3. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana authorizes the Executive Director <br />of the Parks, Recreations and Community Services Agency and /or the Executive Director <br />of the Public Works Agency to submit the approved Santa Ana Bikeway Master Plan, as <br />well as an application for funding bikeways and related facilities which will implement the <br />plan, to the State of California, Department of Transportation, for project funding under the <br />Bicycle Transportation Account. <br />Section 4. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana authorizes the City Manager and /or <br />the Executive Director of the Parks, Recreations and Community Services Agency and /or <br />the Executive Director of the Public Works Agency to execute and submit all documents <br />Resolution 2009 -xxx <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />55D -4 <br />
