REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />NOVEMBER 2, 2009 <br />TITLE: <br />AGREEL~NT FOR HAZARDOUS <br />MATERIAL EMERGENCY RESPONSE <br />SERVICES <br />`/ <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 15` Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2n`~ Reading <br />^ implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For_ <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Authorize the City Manager and the Clerk of the Council to execute the <br />attached second amendment to agreement with Allied International Emergency, <br />LLC., to increase the compensation by an amount not to exceed $60,000, <br />subject to non-substantive changes approved by the City Manager and City <br />Attorney, for hazardous materials emergency response services for the City <br />of Santa Ana. <br />DISCUSSION <br />In July, 2007, the City of Santa Ana began using Allied International <br />Emergency for hazardous materials emergency response services for oil <br />spills and hazardous materials cleanup. These services are used by various <br />City Agencies, including the Police Department and Fire Department. At the <br />July 7, 2008 meeting the City Council approved the first amendment to this <br />agreement to extend these services for an additional year. The City is <br />currently in the process of selecting a new vendor to provide these <br />services. During this interim time, Allied International Emergency will <br />continue providing uninterrupted cleanup service to the City. The <br />amendment will increase the original agreement by $60,000 to allow for <br />payment of current and outstanding invoices. <br />25K-1 <br />
