REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />NOVEMBER 2, 2009 <br />TITLE: <br />SECOND AMENDMENT TO AGREEMENT FOR <br />SECURITY GUARD SERVICES <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />► --:;W <br />❑ As Recommended <br />❑ <br />As Amended <br />❑ <br />Ordinance on 1St Reading <br />❑ <br />Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />❑ <br />Implementing Resolution <br />❑ <br />Set Public Hearing For_ <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Authorize the City Manager and the Clerk of the Council to execute the <br />attached second amendment to the agreement with Securitas Security <br />Services USA, Inc. for a term of one year, in the annual amount not to <br />exceed $ 415,410 subject to nonsubstantive changes approved by the City <br />Manager and City Attorney. <br />DISCUSSION <br />On November 20, 2006, City Council awarded Securitas Security Services <br />USA, Inc. the contract to provide security guard services at various <br />locations throughout the city, including the Santa Ana Regional <br />Transportation Center, the Santa Ana Zoo at Prentice Park and the <br />Corporate Yard. The company has provided service to protect property, <br />provide a safe and orderly environment within City buildings and adjacent <br />areas, and assist the public when conducting business with the City. The <br />annual amounts for the amendment with Securitas Services USA, Inc. are <br />stated below: <br />The Santa Ana Regional Transportation Center $ 234,034 <br />Santa Ana Zoo at Prentiss Park $ 13,996 <br />Corporate Yard $ 107,380 <br />Homeland Security Alerts $ 30,000 <br />Contingency security coverage $ 30,000 <br />Total Annual expenditure: $ 415,410 <br />The amendment term will be from December 1, 2009, through November 30, <br />2010. <br />25M -1 <br />
