Set Public Hearing For <br /> ADMINISTRATION AND HOLDING <br /> FACILITY <br /> CONTINUED TO <br /> ~ FILE NUMBER <br /> CITY MANAGER <br /> RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> Authorize the City Manager and Clerk of the Council to execute the <br /> attached agreement with Siemens Building Technologies for the maintenance <br /> and repair of the fire alarm system at the Police Administration and <br /> Holding facility for one year, with provision for two, one-year renewals, <br /> in an annual amount not to exceed $38,000 subject to non-substantive <br /> changes approved by the City Manager and City Attorney. <br /> DISCUSSION <br /> The Police Administration and Holding facility is equipped with a <br /> sophisticated fire monitoring and alarm system that protects the property <br /> and personnel who work and visit the facility. The agreement provides for <br /> annual maintenance and repair of the system, which includes materials, <br /> skilled labor, technical supervision, tools, supplies, and testing <br /> equipment. In addition, statutory inspections will be performed in order <br /> to maintain the fire alarm system in first class operating condition. The <br /> inspections will ensure operation of the system that meets all applicable <br /> laws and regulations. <br /> On October 1, 2009, requests for proposal were mailed to four vendors. On <br /> November 2, 2009, two proposals were received, (one vendor declined the <br /> invitation, and one did not reply to the proposal). The proposal from <br /> Siemens Building Technologies was responsive to the specifications and <br /> meets the City requirements. A contingency of $5,000 is included. <br /> 25B-1 <br /> <br />
