Implementing Resolution <br /> ? Set Public Hearing For <br /> CONTINUED TO <br /> ~F, FILE NUMBER <br /> CITY MANAGER <br /> RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> 1. Adopt a resolution authorizing the City Manager and the Chief of Police <br /> to execute a grant award agreement with the State of California, Office <br /> of Traffic Safety for the DUI Enforcement and Awareness Program funding <br /> in the total amount of $289,200. <br /> 2. Approve an appropriation adjustment accepting the California Office of <br /> Traffic Safety, DUI Enforcement and Awareness Program Grant in the <br /> amount of $40,000.00 into the revenue account (account no. 16514002- <br /> 52001) and appropriate same into the California Office of Traffic <br /> Safety, DUI Enforcement and Awareness Program expenditure accounts <br /> (account no. 16514414 -61040). <br /> DISCUSSION <br /> On August 3rd, 2009, the City Council approved the Police Department <br /> excepting grant funding from the State of California, Office of Traffic <br /> Safety (OTS) under the Traffic Safety, DUI Enforcement and Awareness <br /> Program in the amount of $249,200. This grant funding allows the Police <br /> Department to fund programs on an overtime basis which will reduce the <br /> number of persons killed and injured in alcohol involved crashes. The <br /> California Office of Traffic Safety has asked the Santa Ana Police <br /> Department to increase the number of DUI checkpoints conducted under this <br /> current grant from fourteen to twenty two. With this additional grant <br /> funding of $40,000 the current grant award will be increased from $249,200 <br /> to $289,200. <br /> 55B-1 <br /> <br />
