2.03 EXTRA WORK <br /> In the event the Contractor is required by the City to perform extra work, the following <br /> procedure shall govern such work: <br /> a. When required, by the SAPRF representative, an itemized estimate of cost will be <br /> submitted for approval prior to work being performed. The Contzactor shall maintain <br /> records sufficient to distinguish the difference between direct cost and extra work. He shall <br /> furnish reports of extra work on forms, agreed upon and approved by the SAPRF j <br /> representative, itemizing ail costs for labor, materials and equipment rental. The report <br /> shall include hours worked and be in accordance with the following conditions: <br /> 1. Work will be executed under the direction of the SAPRF on a time and material <br /> basis or an agreed lump sum price depending on the nature of the work. <br /> 2. The SAPRF representative will issue a work request for such extra work to be <br /> performed. <br /> 3. Extra work will not be initiated without written authorization, except in emergency <br /> call-out situations. The SAPRF representative will solely define specific emergency <br /> situations. <br /> 4. Extra work may include, but is not limited to, the following: <br /> a). Repairs to landscaping, sprinkler systems, and/oz• facilities, unless damaged <br /> by Contractor. <br /> 2.04 PROTECTION OF EXISTING FACILITIES AND STRUCTURES <br /> The Contractor shall exercise due care in protecting from damage all existing facilities, <br /> structures, and utilities, both above surface and underground on the City's property. Any <br /> damage to City, SAPRF, or private property caused by the Contractor's neglect shall be <br /> coi7•ected and paid for by the Contractor at no cost to the City of Santa Ana ox SAPRF. The <br /> City of Santa Ana and/or SAPRF shall make the determination of fault. The SAPRF <br /> representative reserves the right to issue a Stop Work Notice if the Contractor does not <br /> promptly repair any damage, within twenty-four (24) hours of the damage incurred. <br /> If the SAPRF representative requests or directs the Contractor to perform work in a given area, <br /> it will be the Contractor's responsibility to verify and locate any underground systems (i.e. <br /> utility lines} and take responsibility for taking reasonable precaution when working in these <br /> areas. <br /> Contractor shall call Underground Alert (800) 422-4133) at least two working days prior to i <br /> digging for line locations. Any damage or problems shall be reported immediately to the <br /> SAPRF representative and the City of Santa Ana. If the Contractor discovers something <br /> unexpected or a unique problem occurs, he should stop work and immediately contact an <br /> authorized SAPRF representative far a timely resolution of the problem. <br /> <br /> 2.05 CONTRACTOR'S STAFF <br /> The Contractor shall provide sufficient personnel to perform all work in accordance with the <br /> specifications set forth herein.
