Set Public Hearing For <br /> f CONTINUED TO <br /> ~ <br /> ' h--~r~Z-~`~ ,r ~ ~ ~°--r FILE NUMBER <br /> CITY MANAGER <br /> RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> Appoint Robert Tucker, Labor Relations Representative of the California School Employees <br /> Association, as a labor representative on the Santa Ana Workforce Investment Board. <br /> WORKFORCE INVESMENT BOARD RECOMMENDATION <br /> At its regular meeting of March 12, 2010, by a vote of 20:0 (Claudio, Conway, De Leon, Lewis, <br /> Maldonado, Metzler, Pina, Ruiz, Saldivar, Solkamans absent), the Workforce Investment Board <br /> recommended that the City Council appoint Robert Tucker, Labor Relations Representative of the <br /> California School Employees Association, as a labor representative on the Santa Ana Workforce <br /> Investment Board. <br /> DISCUSSION <br /> On March 6, 2000, the Santa Ana City Council adopted a resolution establishing the Santa Ana <br /> Workforce Investment Board and appointed 35 members. In accordance with the federal <br /> legislation, a majority of the Board members and the Board Chair must come from the private <br /> sector. The remaining Board members represent education, non-profit organizations, one-stop <br /> mandated partners and local labor organizations. <br /> <br /> There is currently one mandated labor representative seat vacant on the Board. The Orange <br /> County Labor Federation is the only labor organization authorized to nominate labor <br /> representatives locally and they have submitted a nomination letter highlighting Mr. Tucker's <br /> <br /> qualifications (Exhibit 1). <br /> 13A-1 <br /> <br />
