Set Public Hearing For <br /> CONTINUED TO <br /> ~9,~_ FILE NUMBER <br /> CIfY MANAGER <br /> RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and Clerk of the Council to <br /> execute an amendment to the Memorandum of Understanding between the Santa Ana Workforce <br /> Investment Board/Youth Council and the Santa Ana WORK Center/Youth Service Provider <br /> Navigator. <br /> WORKFORCE INVESTMENT BOARD ACTION <br /> At its regularly scheduled meeting of March 12, 2010, by a vote of 20:0 (Claudio, Conway, De <br /> Leon, Lewis, Maldonado, Metzler, Pina, Ruiz, Saldivar, Solkamans absent) the Workforce <br /> Investment Board: <br /> 1. Recommended to increase funding by $40,000 for the Youth Service Navigator Program Year <br /> 2009 -10 from unobligated youth funds and <br /> 2. Recommended that the City Council amend the Memorandum of Understanding between the <br /> Santa Ana Workforce Investment Board/Youth Council and the Santa Ana WORK <br /> Center/Youth Service Provider Navigator. <br /> DISCUSSION <br /> On June 1, 2009 the City Council approved an extension of the term of the Memorandum of <br /> Understanding (MOU) with the Santa Ana WORK Center/Youth Service Program Navigator <br /> through June 30, 2010. The Youth Service Navigator assumes the responsibility of determining <br /> Workforce Investment Act (WIA) youth eligibility for WIA funded programs and services, provides <br /> technical assistance to youth service providers, shares best practice in case management, <br /> placement, exit, and follow-up services. In addition the Youth Service Navigator ensures the <br /> completion and accuracy of all required forms and documentation, works cooperatively with all <br /> youth service providers from the initial outreach, recruitment, and intake process to the <br /> 25B-1 <br /> <br />
