Station District Overview
The development team headed by Related Companies and Griffin Realty will be
partnering with the city in carrying out its vision for the Station District, which is
anchored by the SARTC (see Station District and Surroundings map on the following
page). This corridor is viewed as a key connection from the 1-5 freeway into the
Downtown, and will also serve as a major transportation link for the planned Go Local
street car system. The team will assist with the planning and development of 48
parcels (totaling close to 7 acres) under the ownership of the Agency/City with a range
of housing to meet the needs of our community, while considering the larger 94-acre
district in the planning process. We envision for sale and rental housing of varied
types, ranging from approximately 20-30 units per acre, while allowing for mixed-use
where appropriate.
The Related/Griffin team intends to immediately plan and design the Agency's parcels
and approach them as a single-phased project, believing it is key to introduce new
products in the area and to demonstrate a commitment to the future potential of the
District. Other sites to be considered for future development will include properties
such as the SARTC, and County-owned land in the District. The developer is gearing
up for its first step of engaging in meetings with key stakeholders in the area to identify
area resident and business needs and desires. From there, a conceptual plan will be
developed and presented to the city staff, City Council and stakeholders for input prior
to finalizing any plans.
