Implementing Resolution <br /> ? Set Public Hearing For <br /> CONTINUED TO <br /> ~ ~ FILE NUMBER <br /> CITY MANAGER <br /> RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> Award a contract to R.B. Welding, Inc. for ladder improvements at the Maxine Pump Station for an <br /> amount not to exceed $53,000. <br /> DISCUSSION <br /> The Maxine Pump Station pumps sewage water from the City's collection system to the Orange <br /> County Sanitation District trunk sewer. The station's dry well has an access ladder that is not in <br /> compliance with the current Cal OSHA regulation. <br /> The notice inviting bids was advertised on March 30, 2010, and bids were solicited. A summary of <br /> the bid invitations and bids received is as follows: <br /> 19 Invitations For Bid mailed <br /> 4 Invitations For Bid mailed to Santa Ana vendors <br /> 2 Bids received <br /> Bids were solicited and opened on April 21, 2010, and evaluated. The bid received from R.B. <br /> Welding, Inc. is responsive to the specifications and meets the City's requirements. To allow for <br /> unanticipated installation issues, an additional ten percent contingency has been included in the <br /> award amount. The lowest bid submitted for $49,000 is below the Engineer's estimate of $60,000. <br /> 22B-1 <br /> <br />
