Set Public Hearing For <br /> GRINNELL <br /> CONTINUED TO <br /> FILE N U M B E R <br /> CITY MANAGER <br /> RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> Authorize the City Manager and Clerk of the Council to execute the attached amendment to <br /> agreement with Simplex Grinnell for fire alarm systems maintenance and time clock supplies in an <br /> annual amount not to exceed $65,000, subject to non-substantive changes approved by the City <br /> Manager and City Attorney. <br /> DISCUSSION <br /> City facilities are equipped with fire alarm systems for the protection of people and property. The <br /> alarm systems require inspection, preventive maintenance and repair services to ensure continued <br /> operation. Additionally, the alarm systems are tested regularly in accordance with the State of <br /> California Fire Marshall regulation and National Fire Protection Association rules. <br /> On July 4, 2009, the City Council approved an agreement with Simplex Grinnell for cone-year <br /> period, with provision for four one-year renewals. The vendor has performed satisfactorily during the <br /> past contract period and staff recommends approval of the first renewal of the agreement. The <br /> agreement will provide $40,000 for annual testing and inspection of the City's fire alarm detection <br /> systems, $20,000 in case of repair services and parts are needed, and $5,000 for supplies and time <br /> clock purchases. <br /> FISCAL IMPACT <br /> Funds are available in the various departmental Maintenance and Repair and Operating Materials <br /> and Supplies accounts (nos. 62322 and 63001). <br /> Francisco Gutierrez <br /> Executive Director <br /> Finance and Management Services Agency <br /> km 2rJC-1 <br /> <br />
