Set Public Hearing For <br /> CONTINUED TO <br /> FILE NUMBER <br /> CITY MANAGER <br /> RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and Clerk of the Council to execute <br /> an agreement for government liaison services with the Ferguson Group in an amount not to exceed <br /> $75,000. <br /> DISCUSSION <br /> The Ferguson Group has served as the City's representative in Washington, D.C. since 1987. The <br /> service includes the review and monitoring of federal executive proposals and legislation, as well as <br /> administrative rules and regulations that may affect the City. The Ferguson Group also assists the City <br /> with grant applications and other special programs for which the City may qualify. <br /> In the current fiscal year, the Ferguson Group assisted with appropriations for the Bristol Street <br /> Widening Project, COPS grants, water well rehabilitation projects, Workforce Development monies, <br /> Empowerment Zone funding and energy-saving related projects. This past year the Ferguson Group <br /> was also instrumental in tracking federal stimulus dollars to maximize the benefit to Santa Ana. <br /> 25J-1 <br /> <br />
