Set Public Hearing 1=or <br /> CONTINUED TO <br /> FILE NUMBER <br /> CITY MANAGER <br /> RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> Adopt a resolution authorizing the City Manager or designee to execute all necessary documents <br /> for the Workforce Investment Act sub-grant with the State of California, Workforce Investment <br /> Division. <br /> DISCUSSION <br /> The Workforce Investment Act (WIA) of 1998 provides funds to Local Workforce Investment Areas <br /> (LWIA) to operate job-training programs for adults, dislocated workers and youth who meet <br /> specific criteria as outlined in the Act. The Gity of Santa Ana was designated as a LWIA and <br /> administrative entity on January 28, 2000, by the State Workforce Investment Board. Santa Ana <br /> has received WIA funds to operate job-training programs since July 1, 2000. <br /> Anew sub-grant is required at the beginning of each program year in order to receive the new WIA <br /> funds as they are allocated by the State. Upon submission of this sub-grant agreement, the City <br /> will be eligible to receive $1,409,639 in WIA Youth funds for PY 2010-11. The City will also be <br /> eligible to receive $1,543,322 for the Adult Program and $820,676 for the Dislocated Worker <br /> Program for PY 2010-11 through a unilateral modification by the State of California. <br /> FISCAL IMPACT <br /> There is no fiscal impact associated with this action. <br /> Cynthia J.
