Authorize the City Manager and Clerk of the Council to execute the attached agreement <br /> with the Community Action Partnership of Orange County for a Summer Youth Work <br /> Experience grant in the amount of $200,000 administered through the City of Santa Ana <br /> W/O/R/K Center, subject to non-substantive changes approved by the City Manager and <br /> City Attorney. <br /> 2. Approve an Appropriation Adjustment recognizing $200,000 Grant from Community Action <br /> Partnership of Orange County and appropriating the same to fund a summer youth program <br /> for 2010. <br /> WORKFORCE INVESTMENT BOARD/EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE ACTION <br /> At its Special Meeting on June 29, 2010, by a vote of 7:0 (Korthuis and de Leon absent) <br /> Workforce Investment Board/Executive Committee recommended that the City Council approve <br /> and authorize the City Manager and Clerk of the Council to execute an agreement with the <br /> Community Action Partnership of Orange County for a Summer Youth Work Experience grant for <br /> $200,000 administered through the City of Santa Ana W/O/R/K Center. <br /> DISCUSSION <br /> Community Action Partnership of Orange County (CAPOC) approached the Santa Ana <br /> Workforce Investment Board, the Anaheim Workforce Investment Board, and the Orange County <br /> Workforce Investment Board with an offer to provide a $200,000 grant of American Recovery and <br /> Reinvestment Act funds to each board to fund summer youth work experience programs. The <br /> Santa Ana Youth Employment Program (SAY) administered through the Santa Ana W/O/R/K <br /> Center will provide paid work experience to approximately 60 youth ages 16 through 24. Youth <br /> <br /> will have an option to work 20 to 40 hours per week beginning in mid- July for six weeks and will <br /> participate in work readiness workshops. <br /> 25L-1 <br /> <br />
