LAND USE ELEMENT <br />Cerclis Sites. "I~he City of Santa Ana Fire Department, Regional Water <br />Quality Control Board, the State Office of Planning and 12esearch, and the <br />U.S. Environmenrnl Protection Agency maintain a listing ofsitcs which use, <br />score, or manufacture hazardous materials, or sites which have experienced <br />contamination in the past.. The list indicates sites which candidates for <br />Superfund financial assistance. <br />Fire Hazards. The City of Santa Ana is largely developed, and does not have <br />any major areas containing flammable brush, grass or trees. Urban fire <br />hazards maybe expected in the City, such as those created by heavy industrial <br />land uses, older svuctures which do not conform to current fire safety <br />standards, human carelessness or accidents, the presence of hazardous <br />materials, and arson. <br />Aircraft. The John Wayne Airport (JWA) is loc:~ted approximately one-half <br />mile southwest of Santa Ana. Tall structures have the potential to cause <br />obstruction to air navigation for JWA in specific areas as defined in the Cicy of <br />Santa Ana Airport Environs E-ement. 'I~he Cicy of Santa Ana will submit for <br />Airport Land Use Commission (ALUC) review new development or <br />redevelopment projects thatcontain amendments co the City's General Pla^ <br />or a specific Ylan and/or adoption or approval of a zoning ordinance or <br />building regulation, within the JWA planning area. <br />NOISE EXPOSURE <br />Persons living, working, or otherwise visiting the City are subject to noise from a <br />variety of sources. While traffic noise from major roadways and freeways within <br />the area are the greatest contributor of noise, stationary sources produce a <br />significant share.
