les: 6/21 /1 O <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2010-034 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE TO EXECUTE ALL <br />NECESSARY DOCUMENTS FOR THE WORKFORCE INVESTMENT ACT <br />SUB-GRANT WITH THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA, WORKFORCE <br />INVESTMENT DIVISION <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby finds, determines <br />and declares as follows: <br />A. The Workforce Investment Act (WIA) of 1998 provides funds to Local Workforce <br />Investment Areas (LWIA) to operate job-training programs permissible under the <br />Act for adults, dislocated workers and youth meeting specific criteria set forth in <br />the Act. <br />B. On January 28, 2000, the City of Santa Ana was designated as a LWIA and an <br />administrative entity by the State Workforce Investment Board. The City of <br />Santa Ana has received WIA funds to operate job-training programs since July <br />1 , 2000. <br />C. Anew sub-grant is required at the beginning of each fiscal year in order to avoid <br />the commingling of funds from the previous year. Submittal of this sub-grant is <br />the first step in the process enabling the City of Santa Ana to receive WIA funds <br />as they are allocated by the State of California for fiscal year 2010-201 1 . <br />D. Submittal of the sub-grant agreement will enable the City to be eligible to <br />receive $1 ,409,639.00 in WIA Youth Funds for program year 2010-201 1 . The <br />City will also be eligible to receive $1,543,322.00 for the Adult Program and <br />$820,676.00 for the Dislocated Worker Program through a unilateral <br />modification from the State of California- <br />E. The sub-grant and other related documents from the State of California must be <br />reviewed and executed by the City of Santa Ana in order to receive said funding. <br />Section 2. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby authorizes the City <br />Manager or his designee to execute all necessary documents related to the sub-grant with <br />the State of California, Workforce Investment Division. <br />Resolution No. 2010-034 <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />
