Approve an appropriation adjustment recognizing a $150,000 Grant from the County of <br /> Orange to provide a summer youth program for 201 O. <br /> 2. Authorize the City Manager and Clerk of the Council to execute an amendment to the Green <br /> Job Corps Agreement W7-GJC-10 between the County of Orange and the City of Santa <br /> Ana in the amount of $150,000, subject to non-substantive changes approved by the City <br /> Manager and City Attorney. <br /> DISCUSSION <br /> On September 21 , 2009, the City Council approved an agreement between the County of Orange <br /> and the City of Santa Ana to provide training for a variety of green career training in eco-friendly <br /> industries to youth ages 16-24. Youth participate in work experience and community service <br /> activities tied to the greening of their community- Corps members received pre-employment, <br /> <br /> work maturity, and life skills workshops, and participate in specialized education programs on <br /> civic responsibility and environmental stewardship. <br /> The additional funds would be used for an expansion of the Green Job Corps program to include <br /> a stand-alone summer component. This component would offer paid work experience to <br /> approximately an additional 54 youth ages 16 through 24 during the summer. Youth will be able <br /> <br /> to work 40 hours per week for six weeks and will participate in work readiness workshops. <br /> 20C-1 <br /> <br />
