Santa Ana Blvd., #200
Santa Ana, CA 92701
Re: Request for Additional Training Dollars for the WIA Participants
Dear Sylvia
We are submitting this letter to request additional training dollars for our WIA Program. This is a wonderful opportunity
for us to increase the number we are serving from 18 to 23 participants. We are proposing to use these funds ($30,000)
to do the following:
• Increase the possible number of hours worked per week, from 10 to 15 for the participants (those who are
available with regards to individual scheduling).
• Offer certificate program in collaboration with the Santa Ana College School of Continuing Education on site at
OCCTAC with additional instructional planning and support when necessary i.e. Office Employment Training
Program and/or related certificate programs, etc.
• When needed, offer tuition assistance dollars for academic supplies i.e. books, class materials and in some
specific cases, child care for those youth who have very young children and are pursuing their educational and
career goals.
• To provide additional hours for the Literacy Coach to provide support for additional students.
Thank you for considering our request, the additional funds will offer even greater support and opportunities for our
youth by filling in some of the financial barriers and gaps related to their success. Additionally, by having the certificate
program at our center this will assist our youth in learning a higher level of employment skills. This will also allow the
participants to become more competitive in the job market.
With appreciation and gratitude,
Dr. Gail Arriola-Nickell
OCCTAC Chief Operating Officer
EXHIBIT A
