Jrange County Conservation Corps <br />Santa Ana Workforce Investment Board - The Youth Service Provider Network <br />Request for Proposal <br />PY 201012011 <br />Corpsmembers are referred to ROP, Community Colleges, Apprenticeship Programs and <br />Technical Schools. Additionally, presenters are scheduled from a variety of high-demand <br />industries including green jobs, medical careers, etc. <br />4. Describe how training and services result in career paths that lead youth towards self- <br />sufficiency. Please provide Labor Market Information if training is provided. <br />The Orange County Conservation Corps will provide the WIA Corpsmembers with hard skills <br />(on the job training, certifications, etc.) and soft skills (responsibility, discipline, punctuality, <br />uniform standards, etc.) which lead to job retention. The WIA Corpsmembers will be exposed to <br />presentations, workshops, and fieldtrips to assist them in developing career paths. The Corps- <br />2-Career Specialist will work individually with the WIA Corpsmembers to develop personalized <br />goals (post-secondary education, job placement, and career development) that lead them to <br />self-sufficiency. Specific Labor Markets include Green Building Operations, Solar Panel <br />Installation, and Water Treatment. <br />D. Facilities <br />1. State location where program services will be delivered. <br />Program services will be delivered in a variety of venues and locations: <br />• Paid work experience will be at various projects throughout the county depending on the <br />current work project assigned; <br />• All other program services (education, case management, transition services, follow up, <br />etc.) will generally be delivered at the Orange County Conservation Corps' main site in <br />Anaheim. However, staff will visit field projects and make home visits as needed to <br />deliver case management services. Occupational skills training will occur both in the <br />classroom and in the field. Project visits and field trips will be planned to facilitate <br />incorporating work projects with classroom instruction. <br />• Street outreach and other recruitment activities will be delivered in Santa Ana, while <br />interviews will be held at the Anaheim site, as well as the WORK Center as needed; <br />• The Corps provides transportation using crew vans to get to work projects, as well as <br />bus passes and assistance arranging car pools to help Corpsmembers with <br />transportation issues. <br />2. How will participant access site if not within City of Santa Ana boundaries? <br />Both daily and monthly bus passes are made available to corpsmembers at our main facility. <br />Carpooling is also encouraged. <br />3. Hours of operation <br />The Orange County Conservation Corps offices are open Monday-Thursday from 7:00 am to <br />5:00 pm and Friday from 8:00 am to noon. Additional week-end and evening hours to be <br />arranged depending on individual participant needs, scheduled events, and activities. <br />4.
