Jrange County Conservation Corps <br />Santa Ana Workforce Investment Board - The Youth Service Provider Network <br />Request for Proposal <br />PY 201012011 <br />A. Description of the Proposer <br />1. Discuss the current number of full time and part time personnel employed/average <br />annual operating budget/sources of revenue. <br />The OCCC currently has 27 full-time and one part-time staff and needs to employ 70 <br />corpsmembers each day to fulfill current work projects. Several staff will be involved in providing <br />services for this project, some in-kind (Teachers, Transition Specialist, Training Supervisor). <br />Several of the Orange County Conservation Corps staff members are former corpsmembers <br />themselves who are valuable role models and mentors to corpsmembers. <br />For FY 2009-2010, the Board-approved budget is $3,711,501. <br />Sources of revenue include grants (87%) and fee-for-service contracts (13%). The remaining <br />revenue is generated through donations and in-kind contributions. <br />California Department of Conservation Division of Recycling <br />National Emergency Grant (habitat restoration from wildfires) <br />? How long has your organization been serving Santa Ana youth? <br />The Orange County Conservation Corps has been serving Santa Ana youth for the last twelve <br />years. <br />3. What kind of impact has your services made to the youth in the community? <br />Santa Ana corpsmembers have: <br />• Graduated with a high school diploma from the Orange County Conservation Corps <br />John Muir charter school; <br />• Earned scholarships for post-secondary instruction; <br />• Transitioned to full-time employment, gone on to advanced training, and/or are attending <br />some form of post-secondary instruction; <br />• Volunteered and participated in numerous Santa Ana community events; neighborhood <br />clean-ups, Youth Expo, charity events, etc. <br />• Participated at the local and state level to represent youth; Santa Ana Youth Council, <br />CWA state conference, local and regional WIB meetings, local youth forums; <br />• Visited local legislators in Sacramento to advocate for youth. <br />The Orange County Conservation Corps has: <br />• Hired and employed more than 602 Santa Ana youth the last 10 years; <br />page 19 of 23 <br />EXHIBIT A
