MINUTES: City Clerk Jennifer L. Hall reported out the summary of email comments <br />received: one (1) Agenda Item No. 26, three (3) Agenda Item No. 27, three (3) Agenda <br />Item No. 28, (66) Agenda Item No. 29, three (3) Agenda Item No. 32, and (13) non - <br />agenda comments. <br />The following speakers addressed the City Council in -person: <br />1. Nancy Robles, Service Employee International Union (SEIU) Local 721 Chapter <br />President, spoke regarding city employees' commitment to the community and the <br />vital roles SEW members have in city operations. <br />2. Taina Bee Lopez requested charges against her be dropped related to an incident <br />at the previous City Council meeting and spoke regarding excessive use of force <br />from the Police Department, accountability, humanitarian visas, transparency, and <br />Agenda Item No. 29. <br />3. Cassandra Perez, District Representative from Congressman Lou Correa, read a <br />letter in support of Agenda Item No. 27. <br />4. Tommy Cota spoke regarding the City's current climate regarding Immigration and <br />Custom Enforcement (ICE), the federal government, unity, and peace. <br />5. Amalia Mejia expressed concern regarding the amendments to the Police Oversight <br />Commission, proposed amendments to the ordinance, and expressed support for <br />Agenda Item No. 32. <br />6. Ana Gomez spoke regarding the benefits of short-term rentals. <br />7. Bulmaro Vicente spoke in opposition to the proposed amendments to the Police <br />Oversight Commission ordinance and spoke in support of Agenda Item No. 32. <br />8. Jasmine Palmerin spoke regarding the need for financial assistance for families and <br />expressed concern regarding the proposed amendments to the Police Oversight <br />Commission ordinance. <br />9. Tonatzin Reyes spoke regarding the City's current climate and in support of Agenda <br />Item No. 27. <br />City Attorney Sonia Carvalho explained that the City of Santa Ana is a Council- Manager <br />form of government and clarified the Mayor does not have the authority to remove ICE. <br />10. Jennifer Rojas spoke in opposition to the proposed amendments to the Police <br />Oversight Commission ordinance. <br />11. Aliyah Nunez spoke regarding the City's current climate and her personal <br />experiences related to ICE, and spoke in support of Agenda Item No. 27. <br />12.
