FREE RECORDING PURSUANT TO <br />GOVERNMENT CODE § 27383 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2025-XX <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE HISTORIC RESOURCES <br />COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA APPROVING <br />HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION APPLICATION NO. <br />2025-02 TO PLACE THE PROPERTY LOCATED AT 1001 <br />NORTH OLIVE STREET, SANTA ANA, ON THE <br />HISTORICAL REGISTER AND APPROVING HISTORIC <br />REGISTER CATEGORIZATION NO. 2025-02 PLACING <br />SAID PROPERTY WITHIN THE CONTRIBUTIVE <br />CATEGORY <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The Historic Resources Commission of the City of Santa Ana hereby <br />finds, determines, and declares as follows: <br />A. On June 4, 2025, the Historic Resources Commission held a duly noticed <br />public hearing for the placement on the Santa Ana Register of Historical <br />Properties (Historic Resources Commission Application No. 2025-02) and <br />categorization (Historic Resources Commission Categorization No. 2025- <br />02) of the Freund House located at 1001 North Olive and 915 W Tenth <br />Street, Santa Ana (referred to collectively as "1001 North Olive Street"). <br />B. The Freund House has distinctive architectural features of the Mission <br />Revival style and was built in 1924. <br />C. The Freund House qualifies for listing in the Santa Ana Register of Historical <br />Properties under Criterion 1 as an intact example of a Mission Revival style <br />home in Santa Ana. The house displays characteristics of the Mission <br />Revival style through its use of parapet roof, open porches with wide arches, <br />and red tile shed roof, among other original features. The recommended <br />categorization is "Contributive" because it contributes to the overall <br />character and history of Washington Square and is a representative <br />example of Mission Revival architecture in Santa Ana. Character -defining <br />features of the Freund House include, but may not be limited to: <br />rectangular -shaped plan; two primary (west and south) facades; <br />asymmetrical design; parapet roof that wraps around the entire building; no <br />extended eaves; smooth stucco cladding; main entrance to each unit <br />located within a front porch and is composed of a single glazed wood door <br />with a Prairie style muntin pattern; large fixed wood window with Prairie style <br />upper divided lights; raised front porches with wide arches; tripartite window <br />adjacent to the front porch composed of a wood frame encasing two double - <br />hung wood windows with ogee lugs and Prairie style divided upper lights <br />flanking a large fixed wood window; shed roof clad in clay tiles at the primary <br />Resolution No. 2025-XX <br />Page 1 of 7 <br />
