CITY COUNCIL 8 JULY 1, 2025 <br />27. Francisco Barragan spoke regarding the City’s current climate regarding ICE, unity, <br />and peaceful protests, and spoke in support of Agenda Item No. 32. <br />28. Fernando Deveras spoke in opposition to the proposed amendments to the Police <br />Oversight Commission ordinance, spoke in support of Agenda Item Nos. 28 and 32, <br />requested social media accounts refrain from sharing posts involving minors, and <br />urged neighbors to unite. <br />29. Mia Verdin spoke in support of Agenda Item No. 32, spoke in opposition to the <br />proposed amendments to the Police Oversight Commission ordinance, and spoke <br />in support of financial assistance for families impacted by federal immigration but <br />requested the funds not be pulled from City events. <br />30. Emma Gottfried spoke in opposition to the proposed amendments to the Police <br />Oversight Commission ordinance. <br />31. Carlos Perea spoke in opposition to the proposed amendments to the Police <br />Oversight Commission ordinance and asked for clarification regarding the proposed <br />amendments. <br />32. Emilio Ramirez spoke in opposition to Agenda Item No. 20 and spoke in support of <br />Agenda Item No. 28. <br />The following speakers addressed the City Council via teleconference: <br />33. Kayla Asato spoke in support of Agenda Item Nos. 27 and 28 and suggested creating <br />a city Sanctuary Board. <br />34. Teodora (translation: Spanish) spoke in support of Agenda Item No. 28, spoke <br />regarding the impacted families related ICE, and requested additional funding. <br />35. Claudia Morales Sanchez (translation: Spanish) spoke in support of assistance for <br />families impacted by ICE, and requested additional funding. <br />36. Araceli Robles (translation: Spanish) spoke in opposition to the proposed <br />amendments to the Police Oversight Commission ordinance and asked for <br />clarification regarding the proposed amendments. <br />37. Victor Mendez spoke in support of Agenda Item No. 24 and spoke regarding <br />alternative funding to assist families impacted by ICE. <br />38. Faby, Orange County Justice Fund, spoke in support of Agenda Item Nos. 27 and <br />32, spoke regarding the immigration legal defense fund, and expressed opposition <br />to Agenda Item No. 29. <br />RECESS <br />MINUTES: Mayor Amezcua recessed the City Council meeting at 8:17 P.M. <br />
