Advancing social justice and building power with working-class Vietnamese and <br /> p immigrant communities in Orange County. <br /> Garden Grove,CA 92843 I www.vietrise.org I general(avietrise.org I @vietriseoc <br /> are tasked to protect as enemy combatants that unnecessary militarized equipment conditions them to. <br /> Santa Ana residents deserve real investments in community safety,not surveillance technology that erodes <br /> civil liberties. <br /> We call on the Santa Ana City Council to: <br /> 1. Deny the$250,000 drone equipment request and reject further militarization of SAPD. <br /> 2. Prohibit the use of militarized equipment,including drones,facial recognition software,and other <br /> surveillance technologies against Santa Ana residents. <br /> 3. Enforce full compliance with AB 481,including timely,detailed,and accessible reporting,with <br /> required opportunities for community engagement. <br /> 4. Prioritize funding for community-based safety initiatives,immigrant defense funds,housing <br /> security,and other programs that strengthen the well-being of residents. <br /> The Vietnamese and immigrant communities of Santa Ana deserve investment,dignity,and safety-not <br /> surveillance and intimidation.We urge the Council to act with foresight and uphold its responsibility to <br /> protect civil liberties for all. <br /> Sincerely, <br /> C&� <br /> Tracy La <br /> Executive Director of VietRISE <br />
