FREE RECORDING PURSUANT TO
GOVERNMENT CODE § 27383
Resolution No. 2024-XX

horizontal siding. These new features will be designed to be
compatible with the existing scale and massing of the
residence, yet distinct enough to discern they are new through
the use of new, yet compatible materials and design. The new
garage door will introduce a new, compatible design to the
property that avoids any conjectural references.

iv. The project complies with Standard No. 4. The project will not
remove any significant features that were added over time.
The rear porch enclosure was completed at an unknown date.
The enclosure itself has not acquired historic significance in
its own right.

v. The project complies with Standard No. 5. Distinctive
materials, features, finishes, and construction techniques or
examples of craftsmanship that characterize the property will
be preserved. The project does not propose to remove
character-defining features or materials/finishes along the
primary façade. The project is not readily visible from t he
public right-of-way and proposes to modify the rear (north)
façade in order to accommodate a new primary bedroom and
bathroom, laundry room, and reconfigure the office and tea
parlor family room.

vi. The project complies with Standard No. 9. The new rear
addition will not destroy historic materials, features, or spatial
relationships that characterize the property. The majority of
the proposed addition is located at the rear (north) façade in
an area that is not readily visible from the public right -of-way
as it is below the existing roofline. Important spatial
relationships characterizing the Colonial Revival/Craftsman
Bungalow architectural style will not be disturbed as the
addition is positioned to the rear of the existing house.

The materials of the rear additions will be differentiated from
the original building, as they will incorporate wider horizontal
wood siding. Although the new windows at the rear (north)
façade will be similarly designed as the historic windows with
the same window trim and materials to match, they will still
read as contemporary yet compatible due to their placement
on the non-original facades. The northwest addition’s size,
scale, proportion, and massing will be compatible with the
historic residence as it will be located at the rear, the roofline
will be lower than existing, and the new roof will incorporate
architectural elements such as decorative corbels and a gable
roof to match existing. Similarly, the laundry and attic area at
