FREE RECORDING PURSUANT TO
GOVERNMENT CODE § 27383
Resolution No. 2025-XX

RESOLUTION NO. 2025-XX

A RESOLUTION OF THE HISTORIC RESOURCES
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA APPROVING
HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION APPLICATION NO.
2025-06 TO PLACE THE PROPERTY LOCATED AT 2429 N.
POINSETTIA STREET, SANTA ANA, ON THE HISTORICAL
REGISTER AND APPROVING HISTORIC REGISTER
CATEGORIZATION NO. 2025-05 PLACING SAID
PROPERTY WITHIN THE CONTRIBUTIVE CATEGORY

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. The Historic Resources Commission of the City of Santa Ana hereby
finds, determines, and declares as follows:

A. On July 9, 2025, the Historic Resources Commission held a duly noticed
public hearing for the placement on the Santa Ana Register of Historical
Properties (Historic Resources Commission Application No. 2025-06) and
categorization (Historic Resources Commission Categorization No. 2025-
05) of the Mills House located at 2429 N. Poinsettia Street, Santa Ana.
B. The Mills House has distinctive architectural features of the Spanish
Colonial Revival style and was built in 1925.
C. The Mills House qualifies for listing in the Santa Ana Register of Historical
Properties under Criterion 1 as an intact example of a Spanish Colonial
Revival-style home in Santa Ana. The house displays characteristics of the
Mid-Century Modern style through its use of its wide overhanging eaves,
louvered privacy wall, floor-to-ceiling glazing, among other original features.
The recommended categorization is “Contributive” because of its overall
character and history of the neighborhood and is a good representative of
the Spanish Colonial Revival style. Character-defining features of the Mills
House include, but may not be limited to: asymmetrical wing-and-gable
composition; clay-barrel-tile roofing; portico with pyramidal and arched
openings; front patio with low, stuccoed privacy wall; side porch (north
façade) with extended-beam shelter; wood-sash windows in various
configurations; recessed, segmental-arch window surrounds on the primary
façade; ornamental details including the clay gable vent, oeil de boeuf, false
canales (where they are original to the building), and molded triangle feature
on the base of the chimney; and front lawn with associated foliage.
D. The legal owner of the residence located at 2429 Poinsettia Street (Mills
House) Carol Park ("Applicant") requested approval by the Historic
Resources Commission to designate the residence located at 2429 N.

Historic Resources Commission 99 7/9/2025
