The Mission Revival <br />920, drew its inspiration from the missions of the Southwest. Identifying features include <br />roofs and coping; low-pitched roofs, often with overhanging eaves; porch roofs supported by <br />aces commonly covered in smooth stucco. The Spanish Colonial Revival flourished between <br />the 1920s and 1930s. The movement received widespread attention after the Panama- <br />�15, where lavish interpretations of Spanish and Mexican prototypes were showcased. Easily <br />olonial Revival are low-pitched roofs, usually with little or no overhangs and red tile roof <br />parapets; and stuccoed walls. The Spanish vocabulary also includes arches; asymmetry; <br />I decorative elements of wood, wrought iron, tile, or stone. <br />The Hillis House qualifies for listing in the Santa Ana Register of Historical Property under Criterion I for its exemplification of the <br />distinguishing characteristics of the Sp nish Colonial Revival. The house also contributes to the historic character of Floral Park <br />through its age, style, scale, and historic association with an important member of the local business community.
